Here I am in my new wig

This is me in my new wig and new glasses. My kids think I look really weird because I haven't worn hair in years. They are use to seeing the bald me. Sometimes I just want to feel girly.

Christmas 2007

I hope everyone has/had a nice Christmas. We are spending the day quietly at home. The kids want home made pizza for their Christmas meal. So I'll make some whole wheat dough up later and then all the kids will make their own individual pizza.

Steve got a Soup Cookbook for Christmas.

Ben (below) with one of his Maze books he got. That'll keep him busy for a while.

Sam (below) with some hot wheel cars.

Ben (below) with some Hot Wheels Cars. He likes collecting Hot Wheels and has a nice collection. He even lets Sam play with them sometimes. :)

Sam (below) with a Cars book. He loved this book, he said it is just what he wanted. Thanks, Grandma.

Great Wolf Lodge Water Park

In November we took a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge. All the kids had great fun. They have slides, rafts rides, a huge tree house, a wave pool and more. A great place to visit.

Even little Sam had water slides just his size.

Peter surfing.

Time for the bucket dump. Lots of fun for kids.

The owl is now at the Wildlife Center

We said good bye to the owl today. We took it to the Wildlife Center for evaluation. The owl looked okay, no blood, wings looked good. He did seem to be having a little trouble with his left eye. Held it closed most of Saturday night but it seemed much improved Sunday morning and he was almost holding open like the other eye but I could tell it still hurt. The owl felt much better Sunday as he had perked up quite a bit. We can call and check on him tomorrow. Hopefully he'll get a clean bill of health and can be released back into the wild.

On the way home yesterday an owl flew into my windshield. I stopped to check my windshield because I thought maybe it got cracked. No windshield damage. I doubled back and saw the owl lying on its side by the road. I drove by and turned around and then pulled over to check on it. The owl sat up. I asked Peter for his coat. Bundled up the owl and had Peter hold it on the drive home. Once home we put the owl in a dog crate and kept an eye on him.

Finally a day at home

Well, I got to stay in all day for a change. Still the day was busy as usual. I did school with the kids, dishes, folded laundry, made 3 meals and snacks. Whew! No wonder it's 8 PM and I'm tired.

We did the usual kind of stuff in school: math, reading, spelling, handwriting, grammar, science, history etc.... Tonight we continued reading our book about Anne Frank. The boys sit quietly and intently listen to each chapter. Tomorrow is our last chapter in the book we are reading from.

There never seems to be enough time in the day to do everything that I want/need to get done. It is so hard to keep up with the housework and do school and take care of the kids.

Today I was able to schedule my flu shot, cholesterol test and bone density screening. It's always good when you can make a phone call without the kids interrupting. I also got to talk to my mom for a while.

I tried out a new recipe for dinner tonight. Yummy, Quinao and Black Bean Burgers with a side salad. Hubby and the kids said the recipe is a keeper. Delicious and good for you what could be better.

We're still conserving water here at the house. Saving all the grey water to flush toilets and trying not to waste any water. After recent troubles with our water system/well we're hoping we don't run out of water before the drought ends. The drought is meant to continue through the end of February - so three more months at least.
